Civic Awards Deadline Extended A Week
Submitted By Chris Soares on Monday, May 1, 2017
A brand new program to recognize local residents who give their time in volunteering and go beyond what is asked for makes its inaugural start this spring. Strathroy-Caradoc Council approved the introduction of the Civic Awards brought forward by the Parks and Recreation Department.

Director Rob Lilbourne says this initiative started a few years ago with the Parks and Recreation Master Plan and nominations have been extended one week to May 5th for a last call for nominations.

Awards will include but not be limited to awards for Volunteering, Heritage, Arts and Culture, Community Enhancement Leader of the Year, Heroism, Recreational Sports Volunteer of the Year, Minor Sports Coach of the Year and the Mayor’s Award. Winners will be notified and presented awards at a council meeting and will be part of a celebration in the summer at the pool for them and their families.
