Social Responsibility (Strathroy United FC)

PrintSocial Responsibility

Being Socially Responsible means that people and organisations must behave ethically and with sensitivity toward social, cultural, economic and environmental issues. Striving for social responsibility helps individuals, organisations and governments have a positive impact on development, business and society with a positive contribution to bottom-line results.

Strathroy United FC is committed to be a Club that works within the Community to help promote and be a positive impact in which it serves.  For our 2016 Season we are looking for Ideas and would appreciate any feedback from our members.  Our 2015 Campaign with supporting Community Service Workers who have dealt with or are Mental Health was a huge success and we appreciate all of our members supporting this cause.  For more information please find it below.

For 2015  all of our Travel Teams U14 – U18 Boys and Girls Teams as wells as all Strathroy Soccer Coaches will help support a local grass roots movement known as #IVEGOTYOURBACK911.

The #IVEGOTYOURBACK911 campaign is bringing awareness to emergency first responder mental health.  These individuals support our community and the SMSA hopes that by having their logo on our “backs”, this type of awareness will help generate support for their organization throughout the area in which we play.

About the Campaign

The #IVEGOTYOURBACK911 campaign started on October 1, 2014.

A group of paramedics, Jill Foster, Stephanie Romano, Denise Laing and Shaun Taylor, were at a point of desperation after hearing the news that 2 more emergency first responders had committed suicide.

Since April 2014, a total of  25 emergency first responders across Canada have committed suicide.

The group said enough is enough… something MUST be done! They wanted to attach a human side to first responders and PTSD so they launched the #IVEGOTYOURBACK911 campaign.

The goal of this campaign is to create social awareness and to spread the word by having people post pictures on social media holding a sign that says #IVEGOTYOURBACK911. The campaign was developed out of nothing but love and support for first responders everywhere, as well as, all allied agencies.

Jill Foster says “We aren’t fancy, we don’t have corporate funding, we don’t have major organizations sponsoring us, but what we do have is all of you! We have photos, we have messages, we have amazing stories of courage and perseverance and most of all we have each other!”

This campaign has received an out pour of love and support from around the world. Every day our voice is getting stronger and stronger… let’s keep up this amazing work!

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped spread the word and shown their support.
